Gifted and Talented
At Hirst Park we recognise every pupil's individual strengths and strive to help all children fulfil their potential.
What is 'Gifted and Talented'?
Our Gifted and Talented pupils are those children who demonstrate the potential to achieve within the top 5 - 10% of their year group.
The school has strategies in place to identify our Gifted and Talented students but parents are encouraged to let us know if their child is involved in any activities outside of school which they think demonstrated outstanding ability.
If you think your child may be Gifted and Talented and would like to let us know then click the link on the left of this page to download a Parent Nomination Form.

The cast of 'Annie'
Children who have been identified as either Gifted or Talented are placed on an official register in school. Some children may demonstrate an outstanding ability across a range of lessons and could be placed on the register for several different subjects. Other children may have one particular talent, such as being an outstanding athlete, and could be placed on the register for just one subject.
What's going on?
At Hirst Park we appreciate that even our most able pupils require support in order to make the progress they are capable of. A range of opportunities are offered both in and out of school to help raise the attainment, aspiration, motivation and self confidence of our Gifted and Talented students.
In a new project we are involving our Gifted and Talented students in the design, production and updating of our new school Intranet and in the production of multimedia teaching resources. Watch this page for an update.

What can parents do to help?
For any child to make the progress they are capable of it is vitally important that they feel supported and challenged by both teachers and parents.
You can download a printable leaflet on how to help your child reach their full potential by clicking on the link on the left of this page.
